How to choose the right garden plants in Malaysia

Choosing the right garden plants seems to be an easy task but in reality, it is not as simple as you thought. Before you even start choosing the plants for your garden, there are few aspects that you need to take into consideration.

First thing first, is the landscape design of your garden. If you have a flat landscape or a small hilly landscape, there are certain plants that can be cultivated better. The second thing to consider is the location of the garden or more accurately where it is being located – windy area, sunny area, shaded area or maybe nearby the beach. The third aspect that is always overlooked by many people is the condition of the soil in your garden. Generally if you have a sandy soil, there are certain garden plants that are very suitable like cactus.

The last but not least aspect that you need to consider carefully is the theme and environment that you are looking for your garden. There are 3 common themes or environment that you can choose from.

Flowers garden – This is most common theme that most landscaper preferred. There are probably thousands of flower plants that you can choose from and among the more popular are Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis or “Bunga Raya”, Ipmoea Pes-Crapae or Beach Morning Glory or sometimes called Goat’s Foot and not to forget the famous Bougainvillea.
Leafy garden – A lot of peoples do not prefer this garden plants as it can be boring with those big leaves like Nephrolepis Biseratta which is commonly known as ferns in Malaysia and Philodendron Pesaro. However, if you combine these tropical plants with the first theme, it will create a harmonized and well balanced environment for you garden.
Anti-anxiety garden – Well what is this theme? This is a less common theme, whereby those who had stress related problem can benefit most from this theme that consist of garden plants that have a variety of different types of flowers color and leaves. One common plant of this nature is Acalypha Hispida which is originated from Hawaii and Oceania and common cultivated as a house plant that are attractive due to its color.
